What are these? Dust? Filament pieces? Should I clean them? How?
They look like just dust to me. Try cleaning them with just isopropyl alcohol and soft tissue.
This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iruud1tMNig&t=33 Gives you a bit of insight how the modules are designed. You´ll see two plastic pieces that rub along the stel band. Anything from dust to their own wear will build up aon the steel band, and yes, I´d remove it from time to time as @Tone suggested with isopropyl alcohol. Be carefull not to put too much pressure on the steel band.

Now I need to find some isopropyl alcohol.
Vodka will work in a pinch, but it takes a bit longer to evaporate. It’s only 40% alcohol compared to isopropyl’s 70%.
Anything against using a stainless steel appliances cleaner? Applied with a nylon brush then wiped off with a towel/tissue.
Thoughts?
