RFID support

Does the filament RFID work any other manufacturer’s products or only with Snapmaker filament?

The official Firmware only works with snapmaker filament afaik. If you want a open Standard you could use custom firmware.

Hi! Sorry for the possibly silly newbie questions, but:

  1. Why restrict the RFID function to snapmakers spools only, if with custom firmware it works fine with spools from other vendors?

  2. Where exactly is the RFID tag located on the spool? Is it possible to take it out of an empty spool and then stick it onto another spool so it gets detected?

Thank you.

  1. Same reason Bambu Labs & Creality do it: To boost the sales of their own filaments.

  2. You can see the small round RFID sticker on the face of the spool, right next to the central hole (which it has to be, as the RFID readers are around the spool holders in the U1):

I don’t know if you can pull it off without destroying it, though.

Destroy the spool or the RFID chip?
Because destroying an empty spool isn’t a problem and I wouldn’t mind doing that
The real question is whether it would still work if I manage to extract the chip successfully.
Thanks for the info.
