Poking around in CAN Bus

I agree with that 100%! My post was only indicative of the minimum required to make the laser fire. And how it’s not really connected to the CAN bus.

PLEASE DO NOT JUST HOOK UP AN 8W LASER take the proper safety precautions for using such a dangerous item.

I actually just found that a little later last night (although very little info from someone on instructables and sent me down another rabbit hole). No worries about the extra safety, I’m not hooking this thing up all willy-nilly. The laser has an external control box, with a key lockout and dedicated beam on/off switch (check out endurance-lasers . com. I’ve been contemplating building a custom machine for it, but I already have the SM and I would like to keep using it. Thanks for the replies. didn’t mean to hijack the thread. keep up the fun

Ok but don’t come crying to me when. You laze a hole in your hand, or eye, or whatever other body part it happens to be pointing at XP

Hi,

I’m also trying to sniff CAN of SM2.0 with STM32L552CCT with FDCAN peripheral.
Could anyone suggest settings for data and nominal prescaler, sync jump, data segments and filter configuration?
