Pinewood Derby Car CNC

Looking for ideas from the more experienced users for recommendations of how to design/generate code or find the correct file types needed to cnc a pine block. I know I can 3D print almost whetever I can come up with, on the CNC end I’m a lot less experienced.

THANKS!

I was given an A250 this year and one of the projects on my Want To list is Pinewood Derby cars on the CNC. At last year’s derby there were a couple cars with a 3D printed topper, just in PLA. It was cool, but having access to a CNC, I’m planning to have the kids design the cars so we can get them milled rather than printed.

Just in searching today I’ve found a few guides that look worth checking out. I would guess you’ve probably already found these as well, but in case you haven’t:

  1. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1790218 - This one has some files you can work from
  2. CNC Milled Pinewood Derby Car Project | Precision Machining with Tormach - This one has tips on how to secure the block during the milling process.

I plan to scour those links as I work up towards this project myself.
