Laser Vacuum for Snapmaker 2

I’ve been interested in creating a vacuum for the laser module for the Snapmaker 2. I tried the ones posted on Thingyverse but found them not to fit my needs. I didn’t want to buy an off the shelf product at a cost I could not warrant nor use an old household vacuum as I use my printer in the house and wanted to keep the noise levels down. So after an unsucsessful attempt using a 120mm fan I ended up with a 40x40x20 one with a high enough extraction rate that found on this post

Below are a couple of images.

The part around the laser head slides up and down by a few mm to allow setting of the work origin.

Whilst this is not a complete answer it extracts enough to be able to work in the same room as the printer as it runs a laser project. I vents directly outside but unfiltered.

Hope this gives you some ideas for your own setup. I’ll post both cad files (Solidedge 2020) and STL files if there is interest.

Regards
Graeme
