Laser and CNC spoiler boards

Just getting started with CNC and Laser. Do you use a spoiler board underneath your project for both CNC and laser projects so you don’t wreck the beds ?

Not worried about it with laser. It will discolor and leave some marks, but not going to do anything to it. I wish it was powerful enough to worry about that.

With CNC it depends on the project and how much you care about protecting the bed and mind the cost of replacement. It’s meant to be disposable.

Hello!
I agree with sdj544, no need for a waste board with laser. I have experience in cnc milling, but like you I am new to milling with the Snapmaker. I always will use a spoil (or waste) board when milling cutout parts because when the tool travels completely through the part, you will get a better edge. Also there is no bed leveling feature for cnc (yet) so a slight bed angle can be compensated for especially when cutting completely through your material. Just be sure to get a higher quality waste board to insure it is flat and of uniform thickness. Preferably lower density than your work material to preserve your bit.
