My wifi connection pretty much stopped working on it’s own without the update. It worked fine for the first few months and then only connects once-in-a-while. My wifi is fine as I can still connect to my printer and two other 3d printers. Only my SM gets finicky. I was hoping the next release would fix it. I guess not.
There are certain channels that wont work properly on wifi because they are not allowed in china, i dont know what they are, but maybe changing it will help you.
