Filament Dryers and Dry Boxes for Snapmaker?

Hi everyone,

I mostly use my Snapmaker 2 for laser, but am wanting to learn 3D printing. As I wouldn’t use this mode often I’m looking for reliable recommendations for filament dryers and dry boxes that can feed filament directly into my Snapmaker.

There’s a lot of conflicting information online, and many reviews I’ve seen don’t offer clear conclusions.

I’m considering the Creality Space Dryer Plus but have concerns about its lack of seals even for short-term filament storage at my desk (for whenever I get a burst of motivation!), meaning I’d also need a separate dry box or plan what I’m doing and preheat it hours in advance.

Does anyone know if Snapmaker is working on a filament dryer solution? Is it worth waiting?

Thanks!

I’m using the Polymaker Polydryer. (https://all3dp.com/4/polymaker-just-reinvented-dryer-boxes/) Been working great so far, and easy to buy more boxes as needed.

I’m using two Sunlu filament dryers, one for each extruder.

I am not sure how important really good seals are on the dryer as it needs to breathe when drying (discharge the moisture). I am using Comgrow dual spool. I have an Excalibur food dehydrator I use for mass drying, which I rarely do. The filament dryer recommends putting desiccant packs in with the filament. That way they stay dry. So, when I change spools, I swap in the desiccant packs with it. That way they are always drying. I store my filament in plastic bags (like the come) with multiple desiccant packs.
Here is a link to the one I use: Comgrow 3D Printer Filament Dryer Box, Comgrow 3D Filament Storages, Keeping Filaments Dry During 3D Printing, Compatible with 1.75mm/2.85mm PLA PETG ABS Material, Filament Dehydrator, Spool Holder : Amazon.ca: Industrial & Scientific;
It’s made by Creality :wink:

my dehydrator is a food one with the inner grids cut out.

ive used all the settings

airflow through the dryer being leaky is of no consequence
i printed some desiccant containers filled them with desiccant and dry them with the filaments (2)

then pack a desiccant and a spool up in a big zip lock bag

and it does need the top on to work
