SnapDryer Bundle

Hi Snapmaker team,
I ordered the SnapDryer bundle together with my U1 printer, but I can’t say this bundle is a very convenient. The bundle includes four boxes and only one dock station, which means I can only dry one box at a time. With multiple spools, this requires constantly rotating the boxes, which is inconvenient.
I also couldn’t find an option to buy the Dryer Dock separately - only together with a box.

  1. Do you plan to offer the Dryer Dock as a standalone product for purchase in the future?
  2. Are you considering a solution that would allow users to dry multiple boxes at the same time, instead of one-by-one?

Thank you.

It’s not capable of four, but there’s a mod out there that allows two spools to be dried from one heater.

Like this: PolyDryer™ – Polymaker US

Polydryer and snapdryer are same thing, just different branding.
Says that on snapmaker website too

So is the PolyDryer fully compatible with SnapDryer boxes? Visually, it looks almost the same, and on their website can buy the dock station separately.

Thanks for the info. My only concern is efficiency. How much longer does drying take when using one dock station with two boxes compared to drying a single box?

I would expect to increase the heat level and possibly the duration in order to accomplish the desired result. Of course, if the heat level is already at the max, for nylon, for example, the duration has to increase.

Polydryer is making snapdryer, its technically same product with different colors.
Here is the fun fact: this Snapdryer bundle was originally called Polydryer bundle, and I bought 1 from Polymaker store for $105 on sale. After Snapmaker added this to their store, Polymaker removed this bundle. Now you can buy 4 dry box bundles there but not 4 dry boxes and a dryer.

Looks like its OOS right now

I still feel some kind of pain and disappointment about this bundle.

A bundle that requires either buying an additional docking station or making a custom solution just to make it work properly — that’s already a downside.

According to the design recommendations, it should be placed behind the printer, which takes up a lot of desk space in that setup. Another minus.

On the sides, only one dryer is allowed by design:
“To reduce tube bending and feeding resistance, it is recommended to install only one dryer on the side.”
That’s a big limitation — another serious minus.

And on top of that:
“When using the SnapDryer, the RFID feature of official Snapmaker filament is unavailable due to the sensing distance exceeding 10 mm.”
Yet another drawback.

When you put all these disadvantages together with the price of the bundle and compare it to alternative solutions, the only feeling left is regret about the purchase =\

I dont get it. All of that is known before the purchase.

The snapdryer was released few month ago. For me it is more for the 2.0 and artisan. But the boxes are great and i use them more or less for any filament I open, also 4 in parallel on the u1. But i also not use the RFID stuff since i buy filaments through all brands.

My only disappointment with the boxes is the fact they are not really air tight… The dessicant in them expires in a matter of days. A ziplock bag with a dessicant pouch works much better and is much cheaper. The drying element is decent though and its nice to be able to dry and print at the same time. I use mine to print TPU from the top of my H2D.

My Polydryer seals way better than a ziplock. It makes me want to get the bundle for longer term storage of ASA and TPU.

With my BIQU order I got a set of sealable bags and a “pump” to meet free shipping. Haven’t tried them out though.

I have also this pump bags, but it is Just annoying. Especially since i have to unload all spools and seal then when not using my printers. With Tubes and the dry boxes the filament keeps dry. I have like 10 boxes and 2 bases. Clean storage in my shelf. Better then the towers of filament rolls in ZIP bags. But need some space.

I’m so over filament bags but like you, storage space isn’t easy to come by…

Not me, with everything sealed up and fresh dessicant in the tray my numbers never dip lower than 10% of room humidity and that will last me about a week, then my dessicant changes colors and the humidity difference is negligible. I had 4 of those boxes and 1 dryer, they’re all the same.

For me… A ziplock freezer bag and a dessicant pouch is cheaper, saves more space, and is just as good.

I gave my other 3 boxes to a friend that also 3D prints and kept 1 box to use as a spool holder/dryer for when I print TPU.
