Donated Artisan 3-1 because of Luban software

I have received a artisan 3-1 because the original owner gave up on the Luban software. I have Bambu labs and creality printers that I am using now so familiar with their software. The 3-1 is a better machine than the others but the software is troublesome even for me. It looks like some people have given up on Luban as well and gone with orca or cura and fusion 360 and light burn. I use fusion 360 now as well so this work for the cnc for me also. Does anybody have a path and the information available the get orca, cura, light burn and fusion 360 completely interfaced with this machine. Such a great machine to be handicaped with Luban software. I am willing to pay. I dont want this to be taken as negative I just want to utilize the mane to it best. If i can get better software I want to ugrade the machine with a 4 axis rotary and the 40 w laser hardened hot end to do abrasive material. Well lets see where this goes.

There are lots of people in the forums using alternate software. Collection Of Guide Links - #9 by Skreelink has a bunch of them. If there’s something you want that’s not in that list, search the forums. Somebody here has tried it. I’ve seen multiple posts about hardened hot ends for abrasion, as well as larger and smaller nozzles.

Personally, I’m using Cura for 3DP. If I ever try CNC or Laser, I’ll start with Luban. I have no experience in those, so I’ll want a newb experience.

There are also basic examples for fusion and lightburn in snapmakers wiki:

For cura you can use this addon:

For printing you can use Octopi on a RPi 3 or higher. Is no rocket scene. Then you can use every slicer you want.

I would like to know about decent software for CNC that is not cloud based online required (fussion360). I do prefer free solutions but Im willing to pay some money - I did bought Alibre for technical 3d modeling but the basic cheaper version does not have cnc functions.

I noticed that a top contributor in the Snapmaker Original/2.0 Owners Facebook Group mentioned that she uses Carveco for its great tutorial videos, monthly subscription and allows for multiple tool paths. It looks promising. Carveco Maker : Powerful, Affordable Hobby CNC Software

Luban is a basic 3-in-1 software. For further software learning and maximizing the machine’s potential, many users recommend Cura, OrcaSlicer, and PrusaSlicer for 3D printing; LightBurn for laser engraving and cutting; and Fusion 360 for CNC. Here are some helpful resources from the official Wiki and the community:

3D printing:

  • Snapmaker Cura Plugin (Snapmaker Official): https://wiki.snapmaker.com/en/Snapmaker_Luban/cura_plugin
  • PrusaSlicer/OrcaSlicer (Credit to Dylan, hliebscher, and other contributors in the community): All profiles have been merged into PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer. Download the slicers and configure the Snapmaker printers directly.

Thanks for tip but monthly subscription is another no go for me. Its overused nowadays and in most cases unnecessary - it makes sense only for software that needs server services which software for converting cad models to toolpaths is not one of those cases. And in any case for ocassional hobbyist like me only one-time buy makes sense

None of the software above is a monthly subscription. All the slicers are free and open source, Lightburn is a one time payment for a year of updates (after it expires you can keep using it, just not update) and fusion you get a personal license for free.

Even Simplify3D, which I still use as my slicer, is a one-time purchase (for each major version).

It seems you missed I was responding not to this thread in general but specifically to Jade’s response about Carveco on my question about affordable CNC software. (still looking btw)
Now Im in process to figure out lightburn as my new IR laser arrived  … its shame Luban is not getting almost any new features tho. Especially when I will get to 4d stuff Im afraid I will be stuck with it as its very specific usecase.
