Benchy Comparison

I’ve been playing around with settings for a long time, here is a side by side comparison of when I thought I was dialled in vs now. The chimney is missing on the first benchy as it had an accident and I couldn’t be bothered at the time to reprint.

Wish I could be a little bit more scientific here, more of comparison after that fact vs intentional.
There is a bit of an infill issue, K-Factor needs a bit more tweaking.

Zoom in for the finer details!

Left Side
Magnetic Bed
Default Speed: 35 mm/s

Right Side
Calibrated K-Factor
Glass Bed
Default Speed: 60 mm/s
Optimised Hotend Temp (Temp Tower)

Common
Calibrated Extruder
Layer Height: 0.16

I think I also put the A350 on top of a large porcelain tile I had to hopefully reduce vibration for the right-hand side print.

Retraction settings are actually identical, K-Factor made quite a difference to outcomes in retraction.

First Layer

  • In this one it’s interesting as there is a little repeating loop of PLA under the edge highlighted.
  • Text is pretty clear underneath on right.

Front

  • Lines much cleaner
  • No gap between window and wall
  • Less stringing
  • Bridge not quite perfect

Rear

  • Interesting what feels like a lower resolution on left as no hint of the name etched into the back, has a weird triangle instead.
  • lot cleaner and less stringing

Side Left

  • Hard to see but little loops under the roof of the bot and edge of the boat in left print.

Side Right

Should have taken a perspective shot
