Yeah I mentioned that before as well. I think it’s more important to note where exactly the temp is measured. If I have time today I will try to design a simple printable template so we can get a bit more accuracy
We’ll look forward to seeing your results. I couldn’t say for sure on the ice water, but it was the simplest base temp I could think of. The temp gun you listed looks very similar to the one I used.
Thank goodness for this thread. I’ve run into adhesion problems at the edge of the plate, and otherwise I wouldn’t have known why!
(When I tried to print something that went close to the edges of the plate, it didn’t work out very well. This thread prepared me that the bed heating might be poor at the edge, so I didn’t waste time looking for something else to blame.)
Looks accurate. Are you able to adjust emissivity level on the temp gun? I adjusted mine to the pieces of electrical tape I stuck on the build plate surface. I wonder how possible it is to know the emissivity of the build plate itself if you’re measuring directly on it.
My old one doesn’t allow for it, the new one is arriving today.
I got the new device and according to the manual the Emissivity of steel is 0.8 , so I set it to that.
According to the manual i have the Emissivity of Ice is 0.98
Now the centre of the plate reads 95’C on the spot after a 30 minute soak. ( 95’C set )
The left side is around 89-90 , and the right side is more like 85 across.( which is different from what I was getting previously )
I will have a play around with it a bit later.
