I received information about the Snapmaker Trade-up Program. Welcome though the discounts are, much better savings would be possible for those of us considering an upgrade from Snapmaker 2.0 to Artisan if you offered a ‘Bare Bones’ version of the Artisan without any toolheads. Since these are common it would be possible to reuse those from our 2.0 machines. This would also be attractive to those of us wanting a second machine since we could use both machines simultaneously so long as each used a different toolhead. Some of us who have been with you for some time now have upgraded a few times and have more than one toolhead of each type and it would be good not to have to waste money duplicating!
There is an upgrade Version. Just ask support. I think it is like 2000€. (1800$?) But with the 200W CNC.
But take care you cannot use 1600mW laser, 50W CNC nor single head extruder on Artisan as documented on compatibility table:
https://support.snapmaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/7313412038551-How-are-Snapmaker-Artisan-and-Snapmaker-2-0-compatible-with-other-modules-and-addons
Here, here. I would consider a second machine, particularly if it was a true upgrade rather than a trade.
Yea, I cannot understand why Snapmaker keeps doing this: secret products that are available only if you know to ask. I’ve found that a few times with spare parts too. If I was Snapmaker I’d put everything in an online catalog, even if in some cases there would be a long lead time. Knowing you had ‘right to repair’ and ‘right to upgrade’ without buying duplicate parts would be a great USP - but it has to be visible so the possibilities influence original purchase decisions. There does not seem to be anything stopping you taking advantage of the ‘upgrade’ price which is attractive to me because for example I could use my original extruder on one machine and the double extruder on the other simultaneously, or use one as a laser cutter while the other is 3-D printing. At the moment it is more tempting to buy a CoreXY from another manufacturer as a second machine.
