Hey Guys
Its Ozlem from Turkiye. I’d like to ask something. How do you clean the laser lens and ? The laser bed gets very greasy — I think it’s because the resin from the wood sheets we use leaks out. I use a degreaser or an oven cleaner, but I know these kinds of cleaners can damage aluminum. What do you recommend?
check the Snapmaker wiki they have instructions for cleaning, they say to clean the lens and the bed with ethyl alcohol.

The lens should be cleaned with Isopropyl alcohol, not sure why the page says Ethyl alcohol. I’ll check with SM on that too. Use a cotton tip to clean the outside.
Occasionally you may need to carefully disassemble the laser and clean the inside too, especially the fan, if you cut glued wood products such as Ply or MDF. I highly recommend a printed remote air intake and tube to cut down on the frequency of cleaning.
Your bed will always get covered in resin and glue residue. I clean mine a number of ways. Often in the dishwasher. I don’t think you will find any way of cleaning it that is not a little abrasive.
If you are cutting lots of small parts, I would recommend a honeycomb bed as well.
IMHO this is interchangeable for cleaning purposes. Both alcohols are solvents for long-chained carbonhydrates, like fat or grease. But I’m happy to learn if there is a difference I’m not aware of!
Well, you can and maybe do drink Ethyl alcohol, but I wouldn’t drink Isopropyl or Methyl alcohol…. ![]()
The honeycomb sounds very practical. I might consider it in the future. I’ll try cleaning it in the dishwasher.
There’s also an extra fan mechanism inside. Since the machine runs every day, it gets dirty quickly.
IPA is evaporates faster and doesn’t leave any residue — that’s what ChatGPT says.
