I received my 40W Laser and tried to cut 2mm Basswood with the recommended settings (for 3mm: 780 mm/s, 100%), material flat on platform. I did the assembly and calibration as described in the Wiki. The cut I got was 1mm in width, which is much too big for e.g. interlocking shapes. I expected maybe 0.3mm, but not this.
Are my diodes misaligned or what is wrong?
I cut 3mm MDF @650mm/s 100%. On a circle piece there is 0,5mm difference in the diameter = beam ±0,25mm.
Sure that the calibration is 100% correct? Try to cut and stop while cutting. Look that the calibration is correct.
Yeah, that don’t sound right.
I get a really thin line cutting 3mm, usually 50/50 if the small parts will “stick on” or not when I lift the board afterwards.
I agree with the re-calibration suggestion.
Sounds like focus is well out. The slide down bit definitely touching the material surface?
Thanks for all your replies. I think I did the calibration and set the material thickness correctly. Will need to check again.
