Which PLA/PETG (color) matches the color of the U1 case?

Hi everyone,

I’d like to print a top cover and maybe a base for the U1. I’d like to match the color of the U1 case as closely as possible.

Does anyone have experience with this and know which filament works best? For the top cover, I’d use PLA, probably matte PLA to match the matte case.

For the base, I’d probably have to use PETG because of the weight. But that makes it tricky, because then I’d have two different filaments (top and bottom) that definitely won’t match in color. So I’d end up with three color differences. Maybe I could use the same PLA here with a sufficiently high infill or appropriate geometry?

Or is there a suitable PETG? Then I could use that for both the top and bottom.

I’m grateful for any advice or help.

It is recommended to use PETG, as the top temperature rises during printing. In a closed chamber, it can exceed 50°C, which may cause issues with PLA over extended printing times.

I would not use PLA for that job.

Understood, PETG is better cause of stability and temperature.

But the big question is: which PETG filament (company & filament color) fits best to the snapmaker case color?

I used Sunlu white PETG and it’s pretty close and I’m satisfied with it.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunatelly I received the filament today and in my opinion it does not fit very well the original U1 color. The white of the U1 is more a white-grey and the Sunlu PLA Meta Cream White is more a white-yellow color. I can add a picture later.

Are there any other filaments matching the U1 color?

Why not just use dark gray to contrast the Snapmaker name on front or even black to match the top and inside of the printer? Just saying, it might be easier.

Marble comes close

Also +1 to contrasting.
