A dedicated U1 Top Cover Usage Guide with the details. The guide covers:
How Snapmaker Orca determines the circulation mode based on the selected filament
The difference between Internal Circulation for heat retention and External Circulation for heat dissipation
How the recirculation and exhaust fans work in each mode
Fan speed adjustment during printing
Multi-filament printing and circulation mode selection
First-time setup, calibration, filter replacement, and FAQs
One important point: the circulation mode is automatically determined by the filament selected in Snapmaker Orca and cannot be switched manually. You can adjust the fan speed during printing, but this does not change the circulation mode of the current print job.
I believe the Snapmaker team should create a video guide on YouTube for top cover too, similar to the ones they’ve already made for other U1 guides. This would be a great marketing too.
Problem here is PEBA, its in category that require stable chamber temperature, but there is no way to select PEBA in material type on the U1 screem or the Snorca(not even generic filament profile), so only way to use it right now is by selecting it as TPU, but then top cover will treat it as something that requires external circulation, which is not recommended for the material, and what i got from this wiki is that there is no easy way to top cover control.
So this require 1 fix and 1 feature request.
Fix is to add PEBA as material type everywhere
Feature Request: To have option to override the top cover controls during printing, like we can adjust bed temperature etc. This feature might already there but since i dont have the top cover i cant confirm.
I agree with everyone here that we need to be able to control the Top Cover fans. The reason I say this is because my chamber gets too hot when doing extended prints and they have all failed with the Top Cover when using the PETG HS or TPU filaments. One reason I wanted to have the top cover is to control the temperature and filter the exhaust… Both of which are negated by having to keep the door open to prevent the temperature from getting too high.
In addition, Klipper does not register the speeds of the Exhaust and Recirc Fans. Plus, I would like to see the temperatures of the top cover… and when the fans will cut on.
Yes, I just realized that I can’t configure the desired fan settings from the slicer!
This definitely needs to be changed so that the user can either use snapmaker (auto) or set them themselves directly from the slicer, e.g. from the filament settings
