U1 Care — Maintenance tracking for Snapmaker U1 in Home Assistant & Stream Deck

Hello Snapmaker community,

I’d like to share U1 Care, an independent project I’ve been developing to help manage Snapmaker U1 maintenance in Home Assistant.

The goal is to make it easier to know what needs attention, find the right procedure and keep a record of completed maintenance.

A dedicated maintenance dashboard

U1 Care creates a dashboard in your Home Assistant sidebar, bringing together:

  • Maintenance status and upcoming deadlines.

  • A separate completion date and next due date for each task.

  • Procedure pages with instructions and links to Snapmaker’s official documentation.

  • A history of completed maintenance.

Recording belt maintenance, for example, updates that task without resetting the schedules for guides, lead screws or toolhead contacts.

The maintenance catalogue covers guides and bearings, carbon rods, Z lead screws, belts, toolhead contacts and other tasks described in Snapmaker’s documentation.

Built around your Home Assistant setup

You can customize the dashboard using Home Assistant’s built-in editor. Maintenance records are preserved across restarts and included in Home Assistant backups.

A demo mode lets you explore the interface without connecting a printer. The screenshots in the repository show this mode, with sample dates and counters.

Maintenance data and printer connectivity

Maintenance intervals are based on Snapmaker’s documentation. If a previous maintenance date is missing, the task stays marked as unknown until you provide it.

Where compatible Moonraker access is available, U1 Care can read the print hours retained in the printer’s history. Availability depends on the firmware, and those hours may be incomplete if the history has been cleared. Toolhead-change counters currently require manual entry.

The integration does not send movement commands or G-code to the printer.

Stream Deck support is also planned

Home Assistant is the focus of this introduction. I also plan to add a Stream Deck companion, so maintenance reminders and access to procedures can be available directly from physical keys.

Try it and share your feedback

Project, screenshots and installation instructions:

The Home Assistant integration can be installed through HACS as a custom repository.

I’d welcome feedback from U1 owners using Home Assistant, particularly on installation, firmware connectivity and how useful the maintenance dashboard is in everyday use. Real-printer compatibility still needs broader validation, so please include your firmware version when reporting connection issues.

Some of you may have seen my U1Deck project here. U1 Care focuses specifically on maintenance, and I’d like to keep improving it with feedback from the community.

This is an independent community project, not an official Snapmaker product.

Thanks for taking a look!
