Snapmaker U1 Kickstarter Update – Useful Info for Backers

It is what it is… I’m just going to wait patiently and 3D print Simon’s cover in the meantime.

I’ve got 4 AMS units because the first 2 are garbage! Just a guess but I can’t image that their Kickstarter was an absolutely perfect launch…

I’ll probably cancel my cover since I have my Creality Enclosure. I think it’s awesome that the give you two options :sign_of_the_horns::sign_of_the_horns:

Regarding the top cover: the delay is unfortunate, but let’s be honest, the initial version was very bare-bones and didn’t justify its price. If it had also been poor quality, that would have been terrible. They are adding functionality and improving quality, and I like that.
I also really appreciate the level of information and transparency from Snapmaker.
Thank you.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for being open about how you feel regarding the Top Cover update. We know this delay is disappointing for some of you, especially if you were expecting it sooner, and it’s completely understandable to feel that way.

We wanted to be transparent about where things stand so everyone has the full picture and can choose what works best for them, whether that means waiting, canceling, or using another solution for now. After a lot of internal discussion, we decided to take more time on the Top Cover because we’d rather deliver something that truly meets our expectations for functionality and quality than rush something that doesn’t feel right in the long run.

We really appreciate seeing different perspectives in the discussion, including questions, concerns, and supportive voices. Your feedback matters to us and helps shape how we move forward. Thanks for continuing to share your thoughts and for being part of the conversation.

I’m super impressed with how Snapmaker has handled everything regarding this printer, its amazing and your support has been amazing.

Take your time on the top cover, I’ll be fine loool.

I’ll def wait and will likely be extremely happy with the final product just like I am with my printer…

Snapmaker’s transparency and communication has been refreshing and appreciated.

I was really concerned about getting burned on another Kickstarter; I swore I’d never, ever back anything again… Well, I couldn’t be happier with my decision to give Snapmaker a chance!

From official Snapmaker correspondence to the awesome Forum Community, this entire experience has been so incredible!

With this update I think I’ll keep my order for the Top Cover. Maybe by the time it ships I’ll be ready to buy a second U1 :joy:

Appreciate you all, you Rock :sign_of_the_horns::sign_of_the_horns:

If you are redesigning the top cover, please enhance the LED lighting and include a heater with temperature control for the interior space, necessary for molding ABS and other materials. Also, please provide space on the top cover for a filament dryer.
Naturally, we would also like a door that allows maintenance from the front side.

Dang! Looool! Do you want it to be a coffee maker too?

I second the LED lights though…

A heater would probably make it too expensive, that’s a no from me dawg.

Since we’re making improvements anyway, I guess it’s okay to voice opinions and requests.

In my case, since ABS molding takes up most of my work, I’d really like a temperature control function if possible.

But I saw someone in another thread putting a trash bag over their U1.

Put the U1 inside a trash bag!?

Wait, no… The idea of putting a trash bag over the U1 seems like the cheapest and most stable solution.

A trash bag might actually work.

I’m keeping my top cover order but my U1 is currently in a Creality Enclosure. I would love something like what BIQU is doing with the Panda '“heater.”"
