Simple JPEG import distorts image

Just getting started with Luban and my Snapmaker 2.0 setup for laser engraving. I have a very simple black-and-white logo (not a detailed photo or anything else complex). Whenever I import it into Luban 4.15.0 on Windows, it distorts the image excessively, regardless of which import settings/tuning I apply.

How do I import a simple black-and-white company logo JPEG without Luban distorting anything?

A simple BW logo try using Vector settings.

Here’s an example of the imported logo. That’s the cleanest I could get the logo with any of the settings, but it’s still nothing like the original.

What Vector settings were you suggesting I try? I don’t want it to outline the text. I simply want to engrave everything black from the original logo as-is.

I’ll make a 2nd post with the original logo since this forum only allows me 1 attachment per post.

Here’s the original logo

If that’s the original you uploaded it’s a tiny picture to begin with. 292 x 147. Try starting with a larger logo.

There’s no way you are going to get that clearer with such a small starting point. Always reduce a picture, never try to enlarge one.

I would recommend using a svg file if you can.

There are converters that will take a jpg and convert them

The problem is jpegs dont have vectoring data

Jpegs get worse when you start resizing

I tried to convert the picture they uploaded to an SVG, however it was too small for any detail to carry through.

I got access to a larger file to import and that seems to have a better final look. Thank you!
