Should Buy a Snapmaker 2.0 or Artisan?

Yes, Luban is a basic 3-in-1 software. For further software learning and maximizing the machine’s potential, many users recommend Cura, OrcaSlicer, and PrusaSlicer for 3D printing; LightBurn for laser engraving and cutting; and Fusion 360 for CNC. Unless you really want the extra work area and volume of the Artisan I would probably get the 2.0. Im pretty sure all of the current modules that come standard on the Artisan (and Ray) work on the 2.0. With that said the Artisan is newer so it might get additional features/modules in the future that won’t be on the 2.0 as well as have longer support, so keep that in mind.

Having a 3 in 1 machine definitely has its perks. As someone else said, it’s a jack of all trades kind of a machine so it has some compromises in order to work as different machine types. However what the folks at Snapmaker have built is solid and most kinks have been worked out by now. It has its idiosyncrasies and the included Luban software is a little lean on features, but once you get a handle on the machine you can make really great things. As long as your expectations are kept in check (this isn’t a CNC router with a 1.5kw spindle or a 60w CO2 laser cutter) you won’t find much to be disappointed about.
