Save video, timelapses and gcode directly to USB stick

Hello,

A couple days ago I’ve received my U1 and the initial feeling is that this is a great machine.

I have extensive knowledge from Marlin FW systems (tinkering them since 2017) but I have never ever had a Klipper-based printer. Since 2022 I also have a BambuLab X1C and later an A1 Combo also. So please forgive my ignorance

Using the BambuLab machines I really like the fact that all user data like sliced models, video, timelapses etc are stored in the MicroSD card. This is not only convinient but helps reduce tear and wear of the internal flash storage in the MCU.

I was wondering if it is possible to do this on the U1. I have a 128GB USB3.1 stick dedicated for the printer and would like to directly save the sliced files from Snapmaker Orca to it instead of them going in the internal storage. Is it also possible to save the timelapse video (or the raw video) directly on the USB stick (both X1C and A1C do that, so you have both the timelapse video and the raw mp4 video)?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I haven’t tried it but in Snorca after you click Print there is a menu slider to do Timelapse before you do the send to machine. Never turned it on, or have any idea where it’s saved, but I’m gonna guess it’s either saved to the USB if installed or thru the network to the system the print was sent from. Just do the slider on a small test print and see what happens.

This is a simple option to turn on timelapse for the print, it always saves the video to internal storage.

Like I replied to them I haven’t looked in to it and there wasn’t anything obvious in the material but I did just find this snapmaker wiki page that tells how to off-load it to USB. And guessing that since I’ve not seen that menu option before it must only appear when there is video stored internally. https://wiki.snapmaker.com/en/snapmaker_u1/export_timelapse
