Why does PETG print over top of PLA in the prime tower, should they not have a separate space to ensure sticking to the previous layer? Am I missing a setting or has this not been resolved yet in version 2.4.0 ? I have had several prime tower failures because of this problem. I have set up the same print in Bambu Studio and it behaves as it should and prints PLA and PETG separately.
Hi! In the settings, as long as you have the multilateral purge tower ribs active, filament for features, you need to set it to print in PETG if you’re printing in PETG and supports in PLA, and if you’re printing in PLA and supports in PETG, then you’d have to set it the other way around. This way, it will create a rib around the purge tower only in the material you’ve set, and you’ll avoid the purge tower breaking.
That is the way I have it set, it prints all the way around in PLA (since that is what the model actually is) but the prime or purge inside the tower is mixed instead of separated and it will not stick at times and causes problems. This does not happen in Bambo Studio it reserves a portion for each material instead of mixing the two that do not stick together.
Hi, I’ve printed several models in PETG with PLA supports and haven’t had any issues. Your setup is pretty similar to mine. Maybe it depends on the filament brand—I’ve noticed that some brands adhere more to PETG, while others don’t.
Yes, some brands are worse than others that is why they need inside the tower to have PLA on top of itself and the PETG (or other support materials) on top of their selves to stop any separation while printing. Other slicers that I use do not have this problem and this can be easily modified in the coding if there is not a setting that I am missing that already does this.
I’ve only recently started using this slicer with the Snapmaker Orca, and I’m on version 2.4. I haven’t seen the setting you mentioned. It’s a slicer still in development, so I assume they’ll gradually add new features. That’s why I suggested the settings I mentioned, as they’ve worked fine for me so far.
This is an existing Feature Request. If you want it, vote for it: (upto) 4 x prime towers
