PLA with PETG support and vice versa is the most use case for multi-material. Instead of laying two incompatible materials on top of each other as prime tower infill, why not separate them into its own prime tower, dual prime towers. That uses more materials and time, but fail print waste even more materials. I’d rather use a bit more materials to reduce the chance of fail print. Especially 10+ hours prints.
When PLA toolhead prints over PETG infill, it can picks up a tiny bit of PETG before moving on to the actual prints. The tiny PETG from nozzle tip can turn into artifacts, ruins the print.
