Hello, I’m currently despairing over a prime tower.
I converted an object with a support structure and prime tower into GCode.
When printing on my Artisan, it happens that the prime tower is suddenly expected in a different position in an involuntary layer. This means that printing is done in the air and the extruder pushes out the material and gets stuck on the nozzle. Now the nozzle moves to the object and prints, at some point the excess material gets stuck somewhere on the object and curls up around it. A few layers later again. Now it happens that the nozzle gets stuck on it and the printed support structure moves with it, which later results in the ruin of the object. Since I’m not printing a small object here and can’t monitor it for 24 hours, this is really bad.
I currently have a printing time of more than 5 days and over 2kg of material for an object. It would be nice if the object was finished intact afterwards.
After all, a lot of material and electricity is used here.
I looked closely at the GCode and also analyzed it with the GCode plugin for Notepad++, it’s OK and the position of the Primetower is consistently in the right position.
So how do I get this under control, especially since only the Primetower has an offset and not the object.
Thanks and sorry for the bad English
May share some pictures?
Is it a filament not binding issue (too cold printed or too fast?) or did it happen because of detaching from printbed (adhesion?)?
Share some more insights like your print settings, first layer settings and a few pictures.
If you print that huge you should be sure that your printbed is in perfect condition.
I am not sure about the pei sheet but for the 2.0 bed I use isopropyl alcohol to degrease the surface.
Maybe you need to print a brim or a raft for better adhesion?
Does it really need this quality that it needs 5 days?
Does it really need the strength of 2kg?
Hello and thanks for your answer,
but i think you dont understand what i mean. maybe the first 5cm he printing all good, than he will print the Prime-Tower at different place and the first 5cm be missing as ground.
here my settings attached
5 Days than i no print high quality or to fast, only maybe the support is a bit fast.
but i think its okay because if make slowly than needs more time.
I already got your problem.
I think it’s a detaching or not binding prime tower which is dragged around.
As you can see in your preview, the gcode seems ok.
Try to increase the size of the prime tower and lower the left extruder print speed to the same as the right extruder.
If you begin your dual extruder journey right now, I would suggest to print a smaller item with a similar problem object (overhang of 90 degrees, dual support, prime tower) but less tall. With this smaller item you should be able to verify your settings and get sure about being save the whole process.
Do you have a few pictures of the failed print?
