New U1 User questions/Issues

I just got my U1. I am coming from a Bambu P1S with over 5,000 hours and a P2S with around 3,000. So far I am loving the U1. Some observations and issues. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the U1, almost every reviewer mentioned the inferior build quality. Yes, some parts are thin but I was expecting WAY worse based on reviews, it is actually solid.

I had the homing error where it gets stuck banging back and forth in the front left corner. When I initially set it up I followed the directions to loosen the screws and move the head around to tension the belts but still had this issue. I did that again and the issue persisted. I then did the home calibration where I had to manually move the heads so they line up with the pin and it works fine now. My only concern is the two middle heads stick to the magnets a little when they are being undocked, they make a click every time when they snap onto the head. I am pretty sure I need to do homing again and adjust them a few millimeters to the left and that will be fixed.

To any people new to 3D printing or new to SnapMaker. There is a tremendous community around 3D printing in general and this printer specifically. Whatever issue you are having it is likely someone else had and there is a fix or troubleshooting steps. I had an issue right out of the box, yes it is frustrating but I followed the suggestions and it was fixed in 30 minutes.

The only remaining issue I am having is with slicer print times. They were way off, I saw a suggestion to change the print head change times from 5 seconds to 15, that has helped but the one area I can’t figure out is prep time. For every print it says prep is only 19 seconds. Is there any way to get it to take into account all the real pre printing prep that can be significant, especially with filament flow calibration.

So… this is an issue with Snapmaker Orca. Best to ask about it in the Snapmaker Orca section, rather than confuse the thread.
