Manual Focus for laser

First time setting up and using the laser. My camera will not autofocus no matter what I do, I have to do manual focus. It asks me to pick which engraved line has the best engraving result. Problem is I have no idea which line has the best engraving result. They all look pretty good. Some are thinner, some are fatter. Which is the best? The first time I did this I picked the one between the thinnest and the thickest. Then I proceeded to the sample project. Problem is the laser did not fully cut through the wood with the sample project. Anyone have any tips? Thanks.

The thinnest line indicates the correct focus. It can be confirmed by looking left and right about 4 lines and checking those lines are equal sized. I chose the one marked in green. And the yellow marked lined 4 to each side are the same size. They really should just reword the choice to “pick the thinnest line” then. Like anyone brand new to this has any idea how to qualify what is “best”
