Important Notice: Snapmaker J1/J1s Clogging Issues User Survey

Dear Snapmaker J1/J1s Users,

We understand that some of you have been experiencing clogging issues with your Snapmaker J1/J1s, and we are committed to addressing these concerns to improve your printing experience. To gather valuable insights, we kindly request your participation in a survey regarding the hotend clogging issues. We encourage all users who have experienced hotend clogging issues, whether recently or in the past, to take a few moments to fill out the survey. Your input is crucial in helping us better understand the extent of the clogging problems and evaluate appropriate after-sales solutions.

We also recognize that some users may have already found DIY solutions to address clogging problems. We encourage these users to participate in the survey as well, as your insights are invaluable in inspiring our future product improvements.

Additionally, we are continuously improving our hotend design and manufacturing processes to better accommodate various printing materials. A new hotend kit (0.4mm) will be available on our official online store by the end of February, with individual left/right hotends and high-speed fan accessories planned for release in the coming months.

The survey deadline is 2024-02-15, and we aim to complete the analysis by 2024-02-19. We may then reach out to some users for further communication.

Your participation in the survey is crucial to shaping our after-sales solutions, and we sincerely appreciate your support and trust in Snapmaker. Thank you for being part of the Snapmaker community!

@rclarke @Sukhvir @kilt_er @Miles @hthavana @neetyd @wudecao @Miq19 @splt7190 @thereisnocat Hi all, I’ve noticed discussions about hotend clogging in previous posts, and I value your input. If you’ve experienced this issue, could you please take a moment to fill out our survey ? Your feedback is crucial for improving our after-sales support. Feel free to skip if not interested. Thanks a bunch!

Hi @Zoe, the only thing I could contribute is that I did the hotend modifications @Mechanikus and his two combattants have developed at day 1 before printing anything. I have never had any clogging at all.

Hi @Miq19

Appreciate your quick response! Glad to know you haven’t encountered any clogging issues. Feel free to skip this message. Thanks again!

I had already done the survey. So what is Snapmaker going to do about it?

i have filled out the survey. The issues had only happened recently for me and they have only gotten worse. A guide on replacing the extruder gears might be nice. I bought a new set of gears in case the current ones are a little worn out. Hoping that new hotend system in testing works really well. is there any way to know when it will be available? i close to getting my own parts made to make revo more compatible

Hi @splt7190 @Miles

Thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey. Your input is crucial in helping us better understand the extent of the clogging problems and evaluate appropriate after-sales solutions. A new hotend kit (0.4mm) will be available on our official online store by the end of February, with individual left/right hotends and high-speed fan accessories planned for release in the coming months.

So the purpose of the survey is not to offer us a free hotend replacement but for Snapmaker to sell us an upgraded hotend for something which I had funded and not properly designed?

I think the survey seems to me to be something to help Snapmaker to produce a better product to sell and profit.

Why wasted our time and gave us false hope in the first place?

I had already filled out the survey by the time you posted this. Got my e-mail this morning with the offer for the free upgraded hot ends. Thanks. I look forward to receiving them. I haven’t been using the printer recently because the clogging was so bad, so I’m hoping this resolves the issue.

Can confirm. I just ordered NEW full-metal hot ends (pair with hardened nozzles) for FREE, using coupon sent today.

Thanks to the Snapmaker for care!

P.S. Just thought to make hands dirty and upgrade the hot ends I have (brass 0.4, 0.8 and steel hardened 0.4) by myself, as have major clogging issue for both 0.4 brass and hardened hot ends.

We have updated the clogging issues and new hotend kit. Check it out:

I have got the NEW full-metal hot ends

Have printed Roman Dodecahedron by Radem (Roman Dodecahedron by Radem - Thingiverse) two material model, PLA (black) as main and PETG (white) as support material, and it works very fine. This is 200% increased original size with added casting channels 8 hours print. Have printed 4 pieces.

No clogging issues so far.

Glad the new hotends seem to be working! still waiting on mine to start shipping.

hmm, I just wanted to order the new hotends. But I’m starting to doubt whether Snapmaker still stands behind its product. Now they’re selling the printer at an extreme discount and the new hotend costs €91, but if I don’t order for €99, I pay €20 for shipping. Then I read that there are people who get the new hotend for free, I’ve had the printer for a year now and almost nothing has worked. The discount for the fan upgrade was great and I paid for it, but setting up the hotends so that you pay the full price again isn’t worth it to me. I also sent all sorts of data that Snapemaker helped to help them. Even after being asked to send the cache of my print files, I complied. So I’ll save a little and buy a printer that works. I’ll probably disassemble the printer and scrap it because I don’t sell anything like that privately.
When I think about the fact that I could have bought two Bambu P1s, I feel sick.
