Hot Linear Modules

Hey community!
I wonder if anybody else does encounter my problem.
From the beginning my linear modules become pretty hot after some hours of printing.
And I mean REALLY hot. It´s like a radiaor in my enclosure.
I tried to measure the temperature, but unfortunatly I´ve got no sensor that´s capable to get a exact temperature from a flat surface.
But in comparison to the heated bed at 80°C or even 100°C the modules feel even hotter.
That´s the reason why I don´t want to run the printer alone without survey.
Is this the “normal” temperature,or should I be worried?

Cheers

That does not sound normal. I haven’t noticed my modules ever getting significantly above room temp.

That definitely sounds like a question to bounce off support.

It’s also something to add to a next version of a controller board. Some microcontrollers have built-in temperature sensors. Failing that, there are some inexpensive 3-terminal devices for temperature that deliver over I2C.

Thanks for the info.
I´ll reach out for support.
If heat on this parts can be a problem, temerature control would be nice too.

It’s not temperature control so much as temperature safety. It’s the equivalent of an end-stop limit switch. Those kinds of safety features are already lacking, though, and I’m not expecting this from SM, only from third party efforts.

Your completly right. Thats the reason why I don´t make bigger prints that I can´t overwatch the whole time.
