The guide itself is still relevant, the changes in the custom firmware are no longer needed! However, if you have one of the newer lasers, 20/40W, I just posted a new guide for those. 
The 10W should work with the guide as well, except for using the focus bar to find the machine Z-height you need, ‘start’ a project, use the touch method to touch the bed, then after it auto-focuses, back out and go to the control screen and note your machine Z.
