I have no idea how the Original handled that - with SM2.0 the Marlin firmware is running on top of RTOS. My gut feeling would be that you need to keep the RTOS layer. If you remove that also, I’m 99% sure the communication to the touchscreen will break. But I may be wrong here… Just thinking out loud
