SnOrca allows users to create custom filament profiles. As usual, I created my user filament profile based on a Generic_Profil. I can also select and assign this profile in the slicer. However, this user profile does not appear on the printer. There, I can only choose from the filament profiles provided by Snapmaker.
This doesn’t really make sense. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this?
At least with Bambu Studio, I know it to work differently.
The filaments available to select on the U1 printer are those stored in the firmware’s flash memory.
With Bambu printers (in this case, multiple A1s and X1Cs), I also cannot select profiles created in the slicer when loading filament; I can only choose those that are also stored in the firmware.
However, in the Bambu mobile app, I can assign the filament profiles I’ve customized to the model during printing via the app—but this only works if the user has a cloud profile and filament synchronization enabled. Bambu uses this both to provide users with better app usability and to gather the tens of thousands of manually created user profiles for slicer and printer testing (so the developers don’t have to create them all manually).
We have noted this issue and have asked the product manager to schedule an optimization.
When you create a custom filament profile when saving you have 2 options. Save to User Profile or Save to Project Profile. To be able to use them in other projects you need to Save to User Profile.
