With the new printer cover, new issues have arisen in printing (especially regarding noise, which wasn’t a problem before with the IKEA enclosure).
I added the following code to my start G-code in Orca Slicer:
;===== Automatic Top Cover Control based on filament type =====
{if filament_type[initial_extruder]=="PLA" || filament_type[initial_extruder]=="TPU" || filament_type[initial_extruder]=="PVA"}
; Strong cooling - Active extraction and cooling (prevents heat-related clogs)
SET_PURIFIER_MODE MODE=1 DESIRE_TEMP=42 ALARM_TEMP=45 FAN_SPEED=0.4 DELAY_OFF=0
{elsif filament_type[initial_extruder]=="ABS" || filament_type[initial_extruder]=="ASA" || filament_type[initial_extruder]=="PC" || filament_type[initial_extruder]=="PA"}
; Heat retention - Heat retention and recirculation with carbon filter
SET_PURIFIER_MODE MODE=3 DESIRE_TEMP=45 FAN_SPEED=0.4 DELAY_OFF=600
{else}
; Default safe mode (PETG or other materials)
SET_PURIFIER_MODE MODE=3 DESIRE_TEMP=45 FAN_SPEED=0.4 DELAY_OFF=600
{endif}
So, the fan will run at 40% throughout the entire print, which is an acceptable noise level in my room (remember that I always had the IKEA box without a fan and no issues with clogs or printing). Therefore, I don’t understand why the fan needs to be on now if the chamber temperature doesn’t exceed 40°C (perhaps due to air circulation and the filter).
The idea is for the firmware itself to detect the temperature marked as “ideal” or “suitable” and adjust the fan speed to maintain that temperature. If we could input speed ranges (e.g., between 20% and 70%) and have it regulate automatically, that would be a significant improvement.
Currently, the fan either runs at the speed specified in the G-code or is off; it cannot be adjusted while printing. At each layer change, it reverts to the speed set at the beginning of the machine’s G-code.
I hope you consider this proposal.
