I’m moderately competent with customization of firmware and so-forth, but the process of installing git and getting Obico working with the U1 main board is beyond my capability (or my bravery to experiment.) Are any of you smart folks attempting to do so, particularly now that SSH access is available with the custom firmware from Paxx? Thanks everyone! Merry Christmas!
My U1 is about to ship (I have a tracking number) and that’s one thing I want to try to do. I’m pretty competent when it comes to software, having developed software for about 30 years. I can probably get it figured out if someone hasn’t beaten me to the punch.
FYI, I asked Obico about it, and here’s their response. You might be able to get a 50% off a pro-plan deal if you can crack it. It’s probably just a matter of installing git and then the typical Obico server stuff, but I have almost zero experience with Linux. Good luck. Let us know if you get it figured out, please!
“Thank you for reaching out regarding the Snapmaker U1.
Unfortunately, we do not currently have a guide for connecting the Snapmaker U1 with Obico, as none of the Obico team members own a Snapmaker printer. This makes it difficult for us to create one.
If you are able to figure out the installation process and write a guide that would benefit other Snapmaker users, I would be happy to help you with the writing process. As a thank you for contributing to the Obico community, I can also provide you with a 50% discount on your Pro subscription.
Best regards,
Kenneth Jiang”
I Managed to get it running with a bit of help from ol claude ![]()
I created it as an install script to make it easier for anyone else, Please note - I am in no way an expert on these things, just thought I’d try and give back. ![]()
Awesome! Thank you for the work. I’m sure a lot of folks will benefit!
