10W Laser Blurred Edges

Hi, it’s been a while since I used my 10W laser for engraving and today I have been having significant issues getting clean edges. It already looks weird in Luban and the edges are really blurry after engraving. I tested LightBurn for the first time and managed to get significantly better results with it. I don’t know if they changed something in Luban in one of the last updates and I am missing something or what is going on. Thankful for any Tips if you have them because up to now I was satisfied with Luban. I included a Screenshot from Luban and the results of my Laser test with Luban and LightBurn.

If you want to use Luban, for simple text that’s solid black, you should try vector instead of grayscale. It’s trying to dither and turn the letters into dots. Also, depending on the speed you’re running, the machine can’t instantly change direction without deceleration and acceleration and can cause rippling at the edges. Lightburn has over-scan to compensate for this where it goes a bit further than the burn area so it can reach proper speed before the laser comes back on, getting a smoother edge.

Thanks for the Info. That is good to now and maybe a good reason to spend some more time with LightBurn. What I noticed there is that on the long straits (at the letters E and L) the intensity seems to drop. I assume this also has something to do with acceleration and deceleration at it reaching its intended velocity on these longer straits? Is there something more I can do to get a more even result on such small text. I have just simply been using LightBurn with the preset Snapmaker machine settings and then exporting the GCode transferring it to the 2.0 and running it there.
