We're building a model platform for the U1 and we want your help naming it

Hi everyone, a dedicated model platform for the U1 is almost ready. A hub for premium multi-color / multi-material models: quality first, ready-to-print with optimized profiles, and built to actually use the U1’s multi-toolhead setup.

And we want your help naming it. :heart:

Where we’re at: we’re leaning toward “Snapmaker” + a word rather than a standalone brand, and probably steering clear of pure “Snap-” names (trademark could gets messy fast).

Don’t feel boxed in by that. If you’ve got a standalone name that just clicks, throw it out there too.

So the game is: what’s the perfect name in your mind, and what vibe should it give off?

Drop ideas + why in the thread. We’ll read every one and bring them into our internal naming chat. Might not pick the flashiest name, but every suggestion helps, and mostly here to have fun with it.

Snapmaker Muse

(A muse is a source of inspiration – Greek mythology Muses - Wikipedia)

To be honest SM are quite late to the game here so all the catchy names are taken :frowning:

Snapmaker Space.

It is meant to convey the same vibe as any other “makerspace”: this is where things get done. :wink:

∫napmaker ∂esign
∫napmaker ∂omain
∫napmaker ∫pace
or..
∫napmaker dεsign / d∈sign
∫napmaker dom∝in
∫napmaker sp∝ce

I like “∫” and"∂" symbols. It’s a pretty fresh angle.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Any brilliant ideas about that little dragon are cool too.

Nabla, the Gradient Dragon (Named after , used for gradients)

Hi, “Snapmaker Works” it’s my take on this.
I like “Works” because it’s centered on action and putting the U1 to work. It shifts the focus from just static models to what makers actually do with them—creating, building, and executing complex multi-material projects. It gives off an active, hands-on, and community-driven vibe.
Thanks :slight_smile:

Snapmaker’s minions for the dragons :sweat_smile:

I posted this as well in the discord channel.

This is a reply that I got from an AI client when asking for a brand name for the model platform

Maybe you can make use of it.

Since Snapmaker is building a complete ecosystem (printer → slicer → app → model repository), the name should be:

  • Short and memorable
  • Easy to pronounce globally
  • Closely associated with the Snapmaker brand
  • Suitable for future expansion (contests, creators, AI, cloud, etc.)

Here are some ideas, ranked by branding strength:

Top-tier names

  1. Snapmaker Forge :star::star::star::star::star:

    • “Where ideas are forged into reality.”
    • Strong maker identity.
  2. Snapmaker Vault :star::star::star::star::star:

    • Conveys a trusted library of premium models.
  3. Snapmaker Studio :star::star::star::star::star:

    • Implies creativity rather than just downloads.
  4. Snapmaker Hub :star::star::star::star::star:

    • A central place for models, projects, and community.
  5. Snapmaker Library

    • Simple and descriptive.
    • In fact, Snapmaker has already referred to the service publicly as the “Snapmaker Model Library.” (Snapmaker)

Community-focused names

  • Snapmaker Makers
  • Snapmaker Creations
  • Snapmaker Works
  • Snapmaker Collective
  • Snapmaker World
  • Snapmaker Universe

Modern, app-style names

  • SnapModels
  • SnapPrints
  • SnapVerse
  • SnapCloud
  • SnapDepot
  • SnapBase
  • SnapSource
  • SnapGallery

Premium names

  • Snapmaker Nexus
  • Snapmaker Origin
  • Snapmaker Atlas
  • Snapmaker Foundry
  • Snapmaker Canvas
  • Snapmaker Atelier

Names inspired by MakerWorld and Printables

Competitors have chosen names that emphasize the destination rather than the files:

  • MakerWorld
  • Printables
  • Thingiverse
  • Thangs
  • Cults3D

Following that philosophy, Snapmaker could use:

  • SnapWorld :star::star::star::star::star:
  • MakerSnap
  • SnapVerse :star::star::star::star::star:
  • SnapSphere
  • SnapHub

My favorite

If I were naming the platform today, I’d recommend:

  1. SnapVerse – modern, memorable, and scalable beyond just models.
  2. Snapmaker Forge – evokes making and craftsmanship.
  3. SnapWorld – easy to remember and competitive with “MakerWorld.”
  4. SnapModels – clear, concise, and descriptive.
  5. Snapmaker Hub – flexible enough to include models, contests, and creator content.

Among these, SnapVerse has the strongest long-term branding potential because it can naturally grow from a model repository into an entire ecosystem for creators, sharing, cloud printing, AI-assisted design, and community.

I just wonder out loud how much AI slop checks for copyright, if it isn’t already stealing and regurgitating other ideas in the first place?

I quite like Snapmaker Forge
