I have two U1s, one of which is 7 days old and vibrates like crazy during printing. I can’t find the fault. Everything seems fine, I’ve tightened and loosened the belts, etc. It’s happening on all 4 heads. My first U1 doesn’t have this issue… Does anyone else have an idea?
Something to do with the steppers themselves?
If I only knew… my other u1 doesn’t do that…
You know what the official answer is going to be: open a support ticket!
I already have, but there might be a simpler solution than sending it back… However, since I still haven’t found anything after 9 hours, it’s probably best to go ahead… The device has been here for only 7 days and has printed 3 items…
Did you update the firmware?
Opening a ticket is the correct first step, support will guide you through troubleshooting.
Did you experiment with lower speed or acceleration? Even higher is possible. This could do the trick against resonances.
Let’s see if other members jump in.
It makes no difference whether I increase or decrease the acceleration or adjust the print speed. The only thing that changes is the frequency profile. The resonance itself always remains.
You can even notice this when you move the Y-axis by hand. There’s a distinct rattling, as if something isn’t running smoothly. It feels like it could be coming from the belt or a pulley, but I can’t say for sure.
With another device, this behavior is much less pronounced, and correspondingly, no comparable resonances occur during printing.
This is now my fifth Snapmaker, and the fourth that isn’t working properly. In total, I ordered five devices, and only one runs as expected.
One had persistent homing issues, another arrived with a defective Z-axis. One was delivered damaged, and the current one started to rattle and vibrate heavily after about 100 hours.
Share your ticket number and I will forward to snapmaker staff.
That’s the 4th u1 printer I have to send back… it’s hard to believe… my p2s, after 229 hours, has a defective Y-axis bearing, and out of 5 AMS units, 3 were defective out of the box… it really kills the fun in the hobby…
