How does the U1 determine the bed temperature in multi-material prints?

Does anyone know how the U1 decides the bed temperature to use during multi-material prints? When I print PETG mixed with either PLA or TPU, the lower of the 2 bed temps are used but they are only changed somewhere in after the 2nd or 3rd layer. How do I keep the temperature to be the higher instead of the lower of the 2?

There is probably a better way of doing this however I personally always make sure all materials that are used are set to the same (and desired) bed temperature. Am also curious to learn if someone has a quicker or more elegant solution! :smiley:

Fair, sounds simple enough!

I have so far only performed multi-material prints with multiple sub-objects (right-click → Add Part). The first object is simultaneously the master and the first sub-object. The master and primary sub-object can have different filament assignments. I previously thought that the master settings determine the print bed, but I will test this.

What i noticed when printing with PETG (70C) and TPU (55C), the bed starts at 70C when the PETG prints, but it swaps to 55C when the material swaps to TPU even on layer 1, and it stays at 55C throughout the rest of the print, even though the majority of the print is in PETG.

Damned, you‘re completely right. It doesn‘t care for the master object. It changes one time the temperature down and keeps it there.

It seems we have to follow Justbaselmanns advice and adjust all filaments for a singular print.

I think that this has nothing to do with the U1 and everything to do with the slicer, no? The printer only executes the gcode it gets?

When I printed ASA and PLA I copied the PLA profile and set the bed temp to the ASA temp and saved it.

I suppose that’s true. I wonder if other slicers besides Orca handles multi-mat the same way.
