Custom Extension Module

After the PCB has arrived and ive had a go at it yesterday (software is just the RGB led sofar), this is what ive got.
Bare PCB Back and top

Top Solderd (the Audiojack is just as a test currently)

Back with the MCP2515 piggyback board

With some basic firmware to talk to the ARGB Led on the right, the left over bright one is the Power LED, regrettable to bright, will change resistor to dim down a bit. The phones autoexposure is oversellign the brightness of the ARGB led, its made less bright to make the pic better, didnt help much

will poke around with Software this weekend to get it to talk on CANbus (didnt get it to compile at first, just turned it off to have alteast the RGB LED running), no buzzer, green LED or button sofar.

Edit:
-Green LED did “work” at first powerup, just quite dim. settign the IO to an Output “solved that”
-ARGB LED does work, including the extension i have used sofar, red and green are switched though
-Buzzer does work from 50Hz to about 5kHz, above that its just annoying and crackly
-CANbus does work sofar (ARGBLED and Buzzer are hooked up to dedicated commands)

Edit2:
-No Magic smoke on powerup, tune got played.
-“Tested” now with SN2, added function to light up onboard LED when Probe of 3d printhead is activated (currently Red but possible better idea to use green or blue and leave red for filament runout)
No more functions added for now.

Will have to look into the registering process i fear. Any pointers apart from the github?

54% of 16kB flash already used, lets hope the SN libary some of you came up with/ are planing on will fit

A bit of a dupe but wanted your feedback
I have a few questions that pop into my head:

  • Which repo has the module definitions that are actually running on my machine? I can see module definitions in the official controller repo as well as in the suposed official module repo
  • Do you have a repo of the code and instructions for upload on how you’re doing this?
  • Have you started your code from scratch or from the module template in the module repo?

Thanks for your efforts!

No definitions at all
no repo or instructions
started from scratch.
didnt work on it further though. i have the boards just laying around, other interests have come up and 3D printing isnt that much of a thing anymore.

To close this off (somewhat) ive updated the Github with the last firmware ive worked on for the module.

This is the big Expansion with the Teensy, not the ATTiny one. ATTIny might be added later.

Keep in mind, The Firmware is as is, the controller does not have the M Code to talk to the board so you’ll have to add that yourself.

MAKE SURE, THE BOARD REQUIRES A USB ISOLATOR for you not to kill your Teensy or Bus transceivers. something with the 24V not beeing properly isloated cough (it works on my machine, after 4 or so transceivers had to smoke up)
