Luban version 4.10.2. I somehow added new material types in the past, however I can not find a way to do it now. Does anyone have the magic in-sight?
Pretty easy to find.
Choose 3D Printing…
Selet Materials in the upper tab bar…
Select Add Profile on the bottom left…
That only adds a new material within an existing Material Type group. George wants to create a new group.
Yes, exactly. In the app it is called “Material type”, which contains the filament material list.
I’ve tried various things, for example in the c:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\snapmaker-luban\Config\printing\a350_dual directory, there are material.*.def.json files that contain the filament material data. There is a “category”: “Material type” field in the file that selects the material type. However creating a new type does not cause luban to do the same.
I tried the same without success. Maybe it’s hard-coded in Luban. Time to talk to Support.
Best option with Luban is to just list it under “Other” and detail what it is. A better option is to switch to a much more full-featured software for advanced features like this, namely Cura, which integrates with the SM quite flawlessly since Luban is a fork of Cura. It does allow you to create custom material types.
I do not think Cura has any Laser or CNC capabilities…
No, just 3D printing, but it is much better than Luban for that. Luban can still be used for laser/CNC. Many other people will also suggest switching to Lightburn for laser, and Fusion360 for CNC, as Luban is a poor compromise for the convenience of combining all 3.
I am working a trouble support ticket with Snapmaker.
