Wasted Z-axis length

I’ve noticed that on my A350 (and the SN1) there seems to be some “wasted” Z-Axis length.
On the A350, it appears that the Z-axis towers could be mounted on rigid boxes, you could gain about 80mm of useable Z-Axis.
(a somewhat smaller gain on the SnapMaker 1)

Is there some reason this wasn’t done?

What are the rigid boxes?

He’s just referring to spacer blocks that could be placed at the base of the Z-axes.

Makes sense. The table is well above the bottom of travel of the linear modules.
