I have a problem with my wall finishes on the U1:

 ![photo_2026-04-01_16-21-44](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex022/uploads/snapmaker/original/3X/5/8/584ac275d2680d2e6ec39b6fa1815749ba9ff9bc.jpeg)

I use eSun PLA Matte as filament from a Snapmaker DryBox. The nozzle temperature is set to 230C after thermal calibration. Also flow rate , max flow rate, pressure advance and retraction calibration have not solved the problem.

Have you any suggestions what to try next?

The max flow rate “snake” did not have this issue and looked completely perfect:

Try the other wall generator. Sometimes such things are actually present in the object.

Especially with scanned objects, Arachne can bring out unwanted details.

Check whether the ambient temperature is too low. If it is, when printing PLA, it’s recommended to cover the printer with something (like the machine’s packaging bag).

I’ve changed the wall generator to Arachne (was on Classic) and have another part printing. Will post the result when finished.

Regarding ambient temperature: The printer is still in my living room at 25C.

Where did the model come from (can you link it)?
Which slicer are you using? I’m assuming SnOrca.
What surface is the U1 on? We’ve had reports that wobbly or lightweight surfaces cause subpar prints.

Unfortunately the change of wall generator didn’t change anything:

 ![photo_2026-04-01_20-13-21](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex022/uploads/snapmaker/original/3X/8/8/8882f5afae5f620b06112201b208885ed7e5a52a.jpeg)

The model is this: [https://www.printables.com/model/1236487-cable-spool-holder-gridfinity](https://www.printables.com/model/1236487-cable-spool-holder-gridfinity)

I just modified the hole for heat inserts and a lip to hold a label.

Slicer: Snapmaker Orca 2.3.0

Build Plate: BIQU CryoGrip Pro Glacier

I don’t like the rough texture of the textured PEI but I’ll give it a try.

Sample with textured PEI build plate. I don’t see any improvement. Happy to test more theories 🙂

If you look at the picture of the prints on Printables, the example model doesn’t look any better. I bet its the file itself.

Assuming that part is “CornerLong\_GridfinityMagnets.stl”, it doesn’t look janky when I slice and preview it.

To me, it kind of looks like two different problems. I see what looks like some under-extrusion towards the bottom, and some jerk/acceleration just above the middle.

Printing with 50% outer layer and inner layer speed helped a little bit but didn’t solve the problem. I try printing with stock “0.20 Standard” settings next since the max flow rate snake was 0.20mm. All other images where “0.12 Fine”

0.2 mm isn’t the solution. I try increasing the flow rate a little and with “0.12 HQ”

Just reconstruct the part in, for example, FreeCAD, and it will fit.

P.S.: You can import .stl files in Blender—try doing some post-processing there. Overall, the issues look like they stem from a scanned object. However, you’re actually in the wrong place for this, since the U1 prints exactly what it’s told. And your model is clearly telling it to do that.

So, the base files look fine to me.

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex022/uploads/snapmaker/original/3X/5/2/521eeea4f228cf862fd7516b228c9b227d3fc37b.png)

Following up on that, I examined the GCODE across different layers at the same locations after slicing.

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex022/uploads/snapmaker/original/3X/7/a/7a80b5d680480a0b543ab5a7a426228fe0b9843d.jpeg)

In the various layers, the same XY coordinates are always approached with G1 parameters. In my opinion, this indicates that the model/STL has smooth walls.

Or am I seeing this wrong?

Therefore, something must be wrong with the printer, your print settings, or the filament. It cannot be the STL file.

Please try using a different filament for testing.

0.12 HQ:

no improvement.

Next I try a simple 2cm cube with the orange filament (check if it’s based on geometry ) and then I’ll switch to eSun PLA+ with the same part and 0.12 Fine settings. But I haven’t calibrated PLA+ yet this may take a while.

I would like to avoid remodeling the whole part and would go this way only in a final step.

At this point I want to thank everyone participating in this journey 🤗

2cm cube:

No improvement on the cube (added as primitive in Snapmaker Orca).

I would say, that rules out the geometry?

@TiBr Feel free to disagree but I would move more in the direction of printer/filament/setup direction.

Starting now to calibrate eSUN PLA+.
