I’m thinking I’ll put something thinner in there rather than ditch it completely. There was some mention about the U1 corners needing thicker material, but that’s only the white sides and not the actual top - the top is flat and the seat of the top cover is flat, so it doesn’t need much (but I would like some). Black craft foam might do it.

Removal: a hot air gun should do it.

What’s pleasing about this story, despite the fact that some people got carried away at one point, is that the community of users of this wonderful machine, with Snapmaker’s help, managed to find the right things to do to move forward! It’s simply great to find solutions in good spirits and through dialogue! Thanks to everyone!

I agree. I’m not sure how many people purchased their top cover as a finished product, but certainly those who supported it on Kickstarter (eg me) have little to complain about. Just receiving one is a win! We (the community) have helped shape the solution so that future purchasers are not troubled in the same way. It’s just a shame the problem was not properly solved during beta.

Any detractors out there need to realise that at least we have some influence over developments. One of the reasons I decided to risk my money on Kickstarter was that this forum exists and it has an active community. In my opinion, FDM printing is a perpetual work-in-progress, and any attempt to lock users out of the process is fool-hardy.

It is conventional wisdom that PLA in particular is best suited to open rather than enclosed printers, but that does not take enclosed printers with ventilation into account!

I’ve found that manually setting the top cover exhaust fan to 60% maintains a steady 30ºC chamber temperature with an 80ºC bed at 20ºC ambient.

Thanks for sharing this. I’m new to this too — would a photo of the object be enough to recreate a printable version, or do people usually need a proper scan?

Is this posted in the wrong topic?

I’m sure it’s a bot comment, and that that’s the reason why it’s out of context.

Hmmm, might be posted in the wrong place. However, AI often uses the long - mark; — (called the em-dash). This is a common side effect in AI generated text.

There’s another account that uses the same longer character in their replies and they also post suspicious comments.

I’m still thinking there’s some influx of bot accounts.

Actually, I use an en-dash a lot – not so much the em-dash —

I removed my top cover… I can’t take it anymore, totally disappointed by how over-engineered this thing is. Now the lack of clearance for toolhead 1 and 4 is affecting my prints. I’m going to sell my top cover and go back to the IKEA container. Smh…

Details? I presume at the extreme left or right of the build plate.

Yes exactly, its even gotten to the point that the tubing clips will collide with the fan housings and fall onto the print bed or printer floor during a long print. The tubing for toolhead #2 will collide with the tubing for #1 because toolhead #1 has no space… Same story with toolhead #3 and #4… I’m tired of dealing with it. Somebody said there was a 3d print (of course) to try and fix it, but I can’t find that file.

Is that the main issue – falling clips? I’m sure that can be cured, using spiral-wrap for example. I’ve never liked the clips.

No, its not the main issue. That’s like trying to cure a cough but not the cold, I appreciate the idea though, its genius. I’m going to look into that regardless thank you! If those keep the PTFE tubing and wiring straight upright then maybe, but then we worry about flexion which also inhibits print quality.

I suggest just a 20cm length positioned at the top of each loop, allowing a bit of relative movement at each end of the umbilical.
