U1 Multi ACE Pro Integration, Stock Firmware, no Soldering

Okay, if it replaces G-code, that’ll be great. We’ll look into it this weekend. It’s a pity they didn’t contact you.

Ok, update. Switched to paxx, instaled multiace, added your fix for CL2012, and everything works
multiace webui is up and running, no errors for now. Will test some prints tonight  super excited!

Just for the info, the image is the exact module i used:

First of all, a huge THANK YOU for this amazing new version! Thanks to your fantastic work, filament tracking via Spoolman/Spoollink works flawlessly. The other new features are absolute game-changers as well – thank you so much for your efforts!

I am currently running v0.99.8b and facing a known issue with the ACE2 Pro dryer heating up past 50°C, which creates a loop when using the new auto-hygrometer feature.

The Issue & Current Workaround

  • The Error: Setting the ACE2 Pro dryer directly to >50°C (e.g., 60°C for PETG) immediately triggers a ptc_error, requiring a full ACE reboot.
  • Manual Fix: If I start the dryer at 50°C first, let it run for a bit, and then manually crank it up to 60°C, it works perfectly.
  • The Auto-Loop Problem: With the new automatic humidity control, the system turns the heater off when the lower threshold is reached. Once humidity rises and it turns back on, it triggers at the stored 60°C target, instantly throwing the ptc_error again.

Feature Request: Software “Soft-Start”

This exact issue was actually discussed by ACE 2 Pro users in the Official Anycubic Community. Other users confirmed that trying to dry directly at higher temperatures (like 65°C) immediately throws the error and bricks the heater until a power cycle. Their current manual workaround is identical to mine: starting at 50°C and ramping it up after a few minutes. Since there is no official firmware fix from Anycubic yet, an automated solution would be amazing.

Could you implement a software-side Soft-Start routine for the ACE2 Pro?
For example: Whenever the heater initializes via the auto-hygrometer, it always starts at 50°C (or lower) for the first 3–5 minutes before automatically ramping up to the user’s actual target temperature. This would fully automate the workaround and prevent the automatic humidity loop from crashing the unit.

My Setup:

  • Hardware: Snapmaker U1 + ACE2 Pro connected via USB-to-RS485 converter (original CH343G chip).
  • Software: multiACE version 0.99.8b (1.5.2-paxx12-21).

Thanks again for this incredible project!

Hi, thank you, you are welcome.

Ah, had this error once but did not dig deeper, thank you for the detailed report, will be fixed with the next hotfix!

ok, just a quick brief of my current progress. I know nobody asked for this, I’m just trying to contribute to this amazing project

  1. The CL2012, i had to switch the A and B signal wires on the pins. No biggie.
  2. For start, testing the Multi mode. I’m using the default ptfe tube lengths, since i realized that the default settings were already adjusted for those lengths. Will make them shorter when everything is stable, and adjust the values accordingly.
-U1 Ptfe from the back to toolhead - 65mm
-Ace 2 PRO original ptfe tubes - 130mm
This works perfect with the 1950/2100 default values for retract/load length.

First very small cylinder print went ok. Some weird seam like artifacts/lines happened on the outer wall, not sure why (could be unrelated with multiace). Decided to do another test print, using the Orca cube handy model. The test is running now, seems like the artifact lines are gone, but i had 3 stops during this print, because of the false spaghetti detection. Spaghetti detection is set to low. This never happened before.

After this, will test the unloading, and move to Head mode, using a original bambu lab 4 in 1, ptfe adapter. Will hook up Ace to my toolhead 1, and the other toolheads will go through stock U1 feeders.

Ok, so still testing and i finally got the tip forming right  I have never done this, and i cant really tell if the tips are now as good as it gets, or there’s more room for improvement (attached a few photos of them)
Everything works in Multi mode, tested the load/unload over 150 times consecutively on two toolheads. Just printed the XL waste bin, and the new nozzle wipers, and about to start the Head mode.

The filaments I’m using are all PETG, and i have them in every color. For testing i used the following:
new Bambu Lab PETG basic - Green
JAYO High Speed PETG Matte - Black

The new nozzle wipers, can they also be used if i decide to go back to normal mode? They printed great, but they don’t have a place for nozzle parking pads. I guess there’s a good reason why, was just wondering

basically I had 0 issues, just needed to dig deeper to get the info on how to set the tip forming properly.

Share your Tipform strings in the github sticky please!

The extra hardware is for background swaps only, you can enable headmode without it.
The background swap hardware is somewhat experimental, so yes: there are no parking pads. The reason is: because background purge would not work with these pads installed, but a solution automatically switching pad / no pad would be .. less experimental. But since i started in march nearly my whole free time went into that project (and some of my “not free” time also  )
I did not have time to develop further iterations of the hardware so far, but if you have ideas, you are very welcome to contribute.
“Normal” mode works with this hardware, but same as with bg swaps enabled, more “dirt” lands on the print-bed.. I heard installing a “poop blockah” helps fighting it, but again had no time to test ist so far.. Makeronline: Download Free 3D Printing Models and Print Now

Hey, I’ve been meaning to install and run multi ace but have been tripped up on the exact wiring I need to do.

I’ve got 2x ACE Pro + 1x ACE Pro 2. Should I daisy chain all three together in one line (ACE Pro 2 → Pro #1 → Pro #2) and end up with one adapter to the U1’s USB port, or use a hub with two separate branches: one daisy chained pair of ACE Pros with an adapter, and the ACE Pro 2 wired separately through the K3/K3M/S1 cable with its USB adapter? Since the Pro 2 uses RS485 vs the Pro’s native USB, I’m guessing hub + split branches is right, but wanted to confirm as the cable guide is a bit confusing regarding mixed setups. Thanks!

Hi, version 2 will do, ace 2 cannot daisy chain in any combination and you need a K3 converter for every Ace2 (obviously).

Ah, it makes sense for background swap and parking pad. But that is the end goal here

i honestly think that this project has crazy potential for U1 users, and AMS like system IS possible, with a bit more hardware modifications and testing  but it’s never gonna be for everyone, because of all the modifications.

I was thinking of trying to implement a filament cutter, but after doing a few days research, i honestly think this is outside my capabilities, and would probably require replacing a part in the toolhead. Only possible place i can think of is around the runout sensor. The toolhead is packed super tight, and i really couldnt think of a better position. This means above the extruder, probalby increasing the poop waste a tiny bit. This would involve designing a new casing for the runout sensor, somehow extracting a functional push in leaver, and an actuator from bellow/above that triggers on a specific gcode. Heavy stuff, and I’m not sure if this is even possible. Other options would all require a much heavier modifications. This is just a first thought, there’s people with much better knowledge and abilities then me, who probably tried something already. Need to do more research  basically just finding a place where the cutter, spring, could be placed is the issue.

Will try the “poop blockah” as soon as i get the head mode, and background swaps running.
I have only one Ace 2 PRO, but will probably get another one, just to store the filaments properly.

I’m getting ahead of my self, but yea, what you made is genius  will take this step by step, and see if i can contribute to this awesome project in anyway.

Hi again, i tried to replicate the error here, sat autodry to 60.. but no ptc error here.. Does this only happen on some devices?

Hi, I don’t know for sure if it happens on all devices, but it seems to affect a specific batch or depend heavily on hardware tolerances and the environment.

For me, the error triggers every single time I try to start directly at 60°C or higher. It appears to be related to the ambient/room temperature as well – if the starting temperature delta is too large, the initial current spike (inrush current) is probably too high for the safety circuit. Starting at 50°C and ramping it up after a few minutes is the only way it works for me without throwing the error.

You can read more about other users experiencing the exact same behavior and using this workaround in this thread:

Allright, managed to ptc mine at 65deg.. Ramp will be built.

can we use the 6 ports instead? I have a few connectors for the 6 ports so if I can use that vs buying the 4-port…

If they are female you can just use the section where the 2x2 male fits, if they are male you can crimp USB directly to it (for ACE 1 pro, ACE 2 needs the signals converted via K3 cable). If you want to to that, look at the snapace github, 6-port pinout is described there.

I got this image for the ace pro, is it still the same for ace 2 pro? I have the male connectors (will build the fan mod too). I’m planning to use the ace 2 pro as a replacement for my drybox. Just want to be able to feed and retract automatically like the AMS. I don’t plan on using multi aces for now. Just 1 slot per tool head directly.

As i said, you need the K3 cables converter for ACE 2, so you have to convert to usb “after” the converter. ACE has no USB Signal directly. Just buy a female 2x2 and you are fine.

Ok, apologies but i wanted to clarify some things before i go ahead and buy an ace2pro. Once i’ve installed this:

  • I can go ahead and remove the stock feeders and attach each toolhead to each slot of the ace2pro (just like an ams) and get auto feed and retract? What mode is this?
  • I can’t print directly from snorca anymore, i have to trigger via web ui and send gcode?
  • Can i access the web ui remotely (different network) or have to the same (local network?)?
  • Do i still need to use the unload, load and edit in the printer’s screen for filaments?

Thank you again for the great work and appreciate your time for also replying.

Hi

  • I can go ahead and remove the stock feeders and attach each toolhead to each slot of the ace2pro (just like an ams) and get auto feed and retract? What mode is this?

Yes, multimode

  • I can’t print directly from snorca anymore, i have to trigger via web ui and send gcode

No, you only have to use webui if you want to change colors between slots (head mode) or aces (multi mode) during print.

  • Can i access the web ui remotely (different network) or have to the same (local network?)?

local, but with vpn its still possible to access remotely

  • Do i still need to use the unload, load and edit in the printer’s screen for filaments?

No, but you can. Autoload is only triggered via Web Preflight, but you can load / unload via WebUI

I’ll have a go then, hopefully everything goes smoothly. Thanks again!
