*.tap files and Luban

I am trying to run a file that I made up in PhotoVCarve to run on my SM2 PhotoVCarve saves gcode files in .tap format. Luban does not seem to like .tap files. I have tried to change the post processor in PhotoVCarve to a nc format but Luban again will not recognize the post processor for nc files that PVC uses.

Is there a version of Luban that recognizes tap files? Or, is there a work around? Or, is there a program like Luban that is SM2 compatible that will recognize .tap files?

What do you guys use?

Thank you
Bill

Have you tried to rename it to.cnc?

Yes, but then it saves the file as filename.cnc.tap, or filename.gcode.tap

You must rename it under wWndows or possibly Apple - just delete the .tap at the end.

I understand but when I right click on the file and select “rename”, it does not show the file extension (tap). It just lets me change the filename only.

Edit the name in a file browser, as long as it has .cnc at the end it should load.

never mind I found out how. In case anyone else doesnt know how to show file extensions, follow these steps: This worked for me. Thank you all.

Step 1: If you can’t see the file extension, Open Windows Explorer and click on the Organize button towards the top left. Then choose Folder and Search Options , then click the View tab. Uncheck the box titled “Hide extensions for known file types” like so:

Click OK . Now you should be able to see the file extension.

Help,
I exited the instructions for MS Win10 by rechecking the selection, but now have no rename choice/capability. How to recover.
Trial and error led me to open the file in Notepad and do “save as” with .cnc. It loaded into SM. Not at my machine so do not know if cutting would take place

Just hit F2 in file explorer to rename the file.

That no longer works since I performed the
suggested work around.
It does not work (the F2) on an unaltered computer.
I have a recently updated Win 10 version.
thx for response.

hmm… F2 key should always work in file explorer. Do you have one of these weird keyboards where you have to use the fn key plus the F2 key? (a few desktop keyboards, and many notebook keyboards have this)
