Snaporca 2.3.1

Hi, my U1 finally printed  I’m using SnapOrca 2.3.1 beta, which crashes as soon as I click “Project” without any error warnings or anything else!! Do you have this issue? Happy printing to you all.

At what part of “project”…there is New, Open, Recent, Save options for that. It could be the file/project specifically and you might want to try a different file and go thru the process again to verify. Also, as an option you could try downloading standard Orca slicer and install it and setup the U1 and try clicking Project to see what happens with and without that or different file. If it still acts up then it might be your PC setup or other programs needed on it. Takes some work on your part but without specifics you probably won’t get an answer that helps. Regards.

Hi, no, nothing more than Snaporca completely closing on the 3 PCs I have! Under Windows 10

I run snoca on 2 different PC’s w/ 10 also and never had any problem…I hate to say it but I think it to be some setting that stupid windows has turned on or off, or snorca is looking for that isn’t installed? imho. But also my 2.3.1 snorca is not Beta and not sure where that download came from. Regardless, I’d uninstall and clean out the windows settings for snorca and reinstall, but you might install orca too and see what happens. Like I said before it’s a lot of work.

I removed all Snorca and Orca settings from the PCs using Revo Uninstaller, which I have been using for years. The download is available at Snapmaker Orca | Optimized for Quality Prints on Snapmaker Machines

I think Windows doesn’t like me :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

Windows (all versions) hates everybody! I started with DOS and then Win 3.0, but all hell broke lose with Win95! LOL

Hello, I’m 74 years old. Windows 3 was perfect , I know them all except Vista which I skipped. I only found SnapOrca beta! Is there another version I haven’t seen on their site? Have a great day!

(off topic)

…until USB came along! Don’t forget Win3 was stuck with 8.3 filenames.

For my money, Win7 was as good as it needed to get – everything since has been just window dressing.

But I miss Win98 – that was the last time we could take control of the hardware without drivers and virtualisation getting in the way.

So I first loaded Snorca a couple months ago and can’t even remember which version it was and have let it do update/upgrades when prompted and this is my screenshot with nothing about Beta. So maybe the current direct download is a beta and the upgrade is not?? Kinda weird if yours shows Beta.

I can’t remember 98 giving too much problems now that you mention it, but after 95 I think we were all just happy as hell not to have BSD all the time so it may not be that 98 was great rather than just so much better than 95. And I have to say that I kinda like 10 and have it on 3 PC’s that I’ll never change unless it’s to Linux on them!

My daily driver is Mint.

The only thing really wrong with 98 was lack of USB support. I think TrueType fonts came in around then, those were a big step forward.

I would’ve switched over to Mint completely if I could get my accounting software to work on it, but it doesn’t like it due to certain repositories. I also don’t know about laser engravers or resin printer on Mint…sometimes the software will work but the updates/upgrades for that OS is slower.

Yes, I still need my Win7 for CorelDraw and Silhouette Studio (to name but two). I would love to virtualise that, but can’t figure out a way to import my existing build rather than have to reinstall everything into a new virtual machine (and I’m not sure I can reinstall my CorelDraw without buying a new licence – I have an old one which came bundled with a graphics tablet).

Mainstream 3D slicers are well supported on Linux, probably ahead of Win (being open source).

Well actually my Anycubic resin printer software is only Win & iOS and the laser engraver software is no longer on Linux and only Win and I’m pretty certain my old Linux laptop that I use for piddly things will not run Snorca…but I will have to try it though. I’ve tried to virtual and need more machine than the old laptop. As I get older I almost hate tweaking PC’s to get an OS to work…I just want to do the darn software for the machine(s) I want to use! LOL
