Hello everyone!
First off, a huge thank you for the incredible support! The previous batch completely sold out, and with continuous demand, I’m open that pre-orders for Version 2.5 are now officially open.
The V2.5 design has been upgraded to be fully compatible with both legacy and updated Snapmaker U1 units.
Technical Deep Dive: Why Did Early U1 Toolheads Clog?
After extensive testing, I identified two core engineering culprits behind the clogging issues on early U1 models:
Filament Coil Memory & Bending:
Filaments naturally retain a curl from the spool. Under the factory setup, this curvature often prevents the filament from engaging precisely into the gear groove. Instead, it deflects at the Hall sensor PCB and pushes through the small gap between the guide and the sensor board, causing severe jams.
Factory Gear Offset (0.2mm – 0.4mm):
I found that some factory U1 toolheads have an extrusion gear height misalignment of 0.2mm to 0.4mm. Improper gear alignment strips the filament and leads to “phantom extrusion” (skipping steps and grinding that the sensor fails to catch).
The V2.5 Solution
Tapered Funnel Geometry: Engineered with a specialized funnel profile and progressive clearance relief, this guide forcibly constrains and centers the filament directly into the gear tooth valley.
Flawless TPU Extrusion: By fully constraining the filament path, it eliminates buckling and completely prevents flexible TPU from escaping into gear gaps.
Pro Tip: During installation, we strongly recommend checking and calibrating your factory gear alignment to guarantee optimal feeding accuracy.
Key Specifications
Ultralight Design (5.8g): Precision CNC-machined from aerospace-grade 6061 aluminum. Adds practically zero inertia to the toolhead, preserving native high-speed motion performance.
Rigid Path Optimization: Vastly superior to the stock plastic part in both dimensional precision and wear resistance, delivering a rock-solid extrusion environment.
Pre-Order & Shipping Details
Pre-order Deadline: October 25th
Shipping Date: All orders ship out on October 31st
Package Includes: 1 Set = 4 pieces (Pack of 4)
Pricing:
United States: $130 USD / set (Pack of 4; includes international shipping and import duties - DDP).
EU & International: $125 USD / set (Pack of 4; includes tracked international shipping; excludes local import VAT/customs duties).
Important Notes (Please Read Before Ordering)
Compatibility: Fits both new and legacy U1 models.
DIY Skill Required: Installation requires disassembling the toolhead, shifting the Hall sensor board, and handling a small spring. For legacy U1 units, you will need to slightly bend the Hall sensor metal bracket with pliers. If you are not comfortable with hardware modifications, please do not purchase.
Policy: This is a custom pre-order manufacturing batch. All sales are final—no returns or cancellations once ordered.

this looks like a great project, but the question is is it needed? especially if you have the upgraded filament feeder ? i will be happy to give it a go for your benefit, but I am certainly not buying it

Thanks for your offer! Since V2.5 is a precision CNC custom batch with real manufacturing costs, we don’t send out free samples blindly. But I’d love to know—what kind of ‘professional testing’ report, data, or setup could you provide that would outweigh those production costs? If you have a solid testing protocol, benchmarking setup, or channel, feel free to pitch it—I’d be more than happy to provide a test sample for a qualified proposal!
