# Noticeable burn marks every shape when cutting

So I have the air assist on (dedicated 200W aquarium), but with every cut, the laser appears to be firing hot enough to initially make a spot like this. Usually, I cut all my 5-6mm at 80% power and no much higher and 600-650mm/min in Lightburn.

Is there any way to avoid this 🤔

My settings for 5mm laminated MDF.

I was hoping I don’t have to mask anything; I mean it’s not the end of the world but it’s just an extra cleaning I have to do.
