Laser on wood burning

HI All,
does anyone know how to avoid the ‘burning’ effect around text and images when I use the laser on wood?

I’m guessing its reducing laser power or some thing like that…

Agreed, I would finetune how much power you use. Additional factor is work speed, so making the work in a shorter time will result in less power on the wood.

Lower Dwell time at greyscale images could do the same like reducing laser-power, i guess.

Not tried it on SM yet, but I use paper tape. It helps with burns, just is pain to remove if you have a lot of small pieces.
