Setting up to laser engraving. I get to the calibration step where it wants to turn on the laser. When I enter the Laser password, it starts to move then complains the enclosure door is open. I tried reversing the sensor plug with no difference. Then I power down the controller, but on power up it goes back to the calibration step. Again it complains the door is open. The controller won’t exit that step so every time the controller is powered up, it again gets stuck on that step.

I have checked and double checked the connectors. I have also checked the voltages at the connectors. They measured correct voltages both with the door open and closed, so it would seem the problem lies within the firmware.

I have now received a replacement door Hall sensor which I have installed with absolutely no change in the results. The laser function STILL complains the door is open so refuses to get beyond the camera calibration step. Is there NO WAY to either get the door sensor working or to disable the door sensor during laser engraving?
Maybe is there some diagnostic routine to find the problem? I spent $3000 only to get 2/3 of the functionality?

Lets get some serious attention to this problem!

I have finished assembling the enclosure yesterday of my new Artisan. Do you hear hear the notification coming from the controller when opening or closing the door together with the message on the controller display?

No. That is of no help as the firmware will not allow disarming of the door sensor when using the laser.

No, there is no verbal or audio notification other than the notice that the enclosure door is open.

Strange. My device always “pings” when door is opened/closed like a microwave oven when it is finished.
But noticed yesterday that it does not do it while laser module is in place. I assume because door closing is mandatory and not optional like printing or CNC

Mine won’t alert me regardless of the module installed. Cables have been checked, voltages at Hall sensor appear correct, and Hall sensor replaced. No change. Laser still won’t proceed beyond the camera calibration.

Is there a setup option in the machine software to turn off door status check?
I vague remember that…
Perhaps that is turned off. .

For sure there is an option to check the door. It can be turned off and on for printing and CNC.
But the switch for Laser cannot be changed. it is always enabled.

I just found that when the factory installed the door sensor cable and the LEDs between columns 2 and 3, the door sensor cable had been pinched and cut. Only by checking and double checking the voltages at each end of the cable did I find the problem. I may be able to repair the cable, but need to figure out how to remove the LED strip so I can access the cable.
